It's designed to let children discover, imagine, and grow through hands-on adventures â where learning happens naturally, surrounded by trees, birds, and sunshine.

Designed for school groups, our Explore Day program transforms outdoor learning into a full-day, curriculum-aligned, adventure-filled journey. Our Approach: Experience Over Checklist
At Forest School, it's all about the experience. We're here to build a bond between children and nature â to help them rediscover the joy of being outdoors, touching the earth, feeling the rain, and seeing the world through wonder-filled eyes.
Every visit is guided by nature itself. If it rains, we celebrate it with more nature play â puddles, mud, and laughter. If the sun shines, the forest becomes our playground of discovery. Each day brings a new rhythm, and our educators move with the children, not against them.
Schools and preschools may choose up to six activities for their Explore Day.
However, we follow the flow of the children's curiosity and engagement. There's no pressure to "complete" everything â our focus is on giving every child a genuine, happy experience with nature, not on finishing a checklist or syllabus.

Signature Explore Day Activities
At Forest School Colombo, the focus is never on how many activities a child completes â it's about how deeply they connect with nature. We usually plan around five to six carefully chosen activities during each Explore Day, allowing children to immerse themselves in meaningful experiences rather than rushing through a checklist.
Forest Play Area
Specially designed for nature-based physical challenges where children climb, balance, and explore safely in a natural setting. Where curiosity meets courage.
Mud Pool & Zipline Adventure
Children soar through the air and splash straight into the mud â an unforgettable sensory and confidence-building moment!
Boat Riding on Bolgoda Lake
A calm educational journey where children listen to fascinating stories about the lake's history, ecosystem, and wildlife.
Mud Kitchen
A creative sensory zone unique to Sri Lanka, where children make natural creations like hibiscus tea from flowers they pick, experiment with soil and leaves.
Bamboo Shelter Building
Design structures using sticks and natural materials, developing teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Compost Making
Hands-on sustainability lesson where children collect goat dung and mix it with natural waste to create organic compost.
Vegetable Harvesting
Pick fresh produce from our organic garden and prepare simple dishes together, learning farm-to-table living.
